Welcome to "Bible Questions & Answers." This Bible Question & Answer page is based on our radio program that airs every Sunday morning from 8:30am until 9:00am. The goal of the radio program as well as this page is to go back to the Bible, to speak where the Bible speaks and be silent where the Bible is silent. Do Bible things in Bible ways, and call Bible things by Bible names. 1 Peter 4:11 says, "If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God." The Bible is the only book we need for a guide from earth to heaven. 2 Tim 3:16-17, "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness. That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works." The church of Christ is the only church that you can read about in your Bible. It is the church that Jesus said He would build in Matt. 16:18. The church of Christ is the body of Christ, Eph.1:22-23 and it is the church that Jesus Christ adds the saved to, Acts 2:47. The Bible teaches that Jesus Christ built only ONE church and that he will save only ONE church. Eph. 4:4-6, There is ONE body, and one spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all...

WHAT COULD WE PREACH, IF NOT ABOUT CHRIST'S CHURCH?

There are over 300 different churches. They all teach and worship God in different ways. It is a world of confusion. People don't know who to believe or what to believe. Jesus promised to build ONE church: Matt 16:18 "And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." People are always asking members of the church of Christ, 'Why do the preachers in the churches fo Christ always preach about the church? Why can't they just preach Jesus Christ and how we should love one another?' We answer those questions with a question:What could a gospel preacher preach about if he didn't preach about Christ's church? Suppose he should want to preach on some subject pertaining to Christ, But could not preach about His church. What could he preach?

If we wanted to preach about the headship of Christ, we would have to tell about that of which he is the head, and that is his church, the church of Christ:Eph 5:23 "For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body." Col 1:18 "And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence." Eph 1:22-23
"And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,
Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all." Acts 20:28 "Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood." Eph 5:24 "Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing."

If we should preach about the love of Jesus, we could not leave out that he loved the church of Christ and gave himself for it: Eph 5:25 "Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;"

If we should preach about Jesus sanctifying and cleansing power, we would have to tell that He sanctified and cleansed the church of Christ with the washing of water by the word:Eph 5:26 "That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,"

If we should preach about what Jesus nourishes and cherishes, we would have to tell that he nourishes and cherishes the church of Christ: Eph 5:29 "For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:"

If we should preach about where Jesus places the saved, we would have to tell that he adds them to the churcch of Christ:Acts 2:47 "Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved."

Therefore, our answer is "a gospel preacher cannot preach Christ without preaching what the Bible says about His church," which is the church of Christ.
